ASPEN IRIS (she/her)
Founder & Executive Director
Aspen is Co-Founder and Executive Director of Climate Hearth, as well as a PhD Candidate at Concordia University, where she researches how climate policy can address the emotional impacts of climate disasters.
She is passionate about helping others process their climate emotions in community, increase their emotional resilience, and find their purpose in this fight of (all) our lifetimes. In her free time, Aspen loves running, biking, cooking, and spending time with friends.
JULIETTE ESCANDE (she/her)
Operations Director
Juliette is a special needs teacher who aspires to combine education and sustainable principles in order to create valuable changes in our society. By merging the skills she has obtained through her studies in Managing for Sustainability and Special Needs Education, she seeks to develop projects that will have a positive impact in the heart of the Montreal community, particularly on mental health.
In her free time she loves camping, hiking, and taking care of her pets.
DJESSICA DJAPOUM NDJIONGUE (she/her)
Community Coordinator
Djessica is a 3rd-year Computer Engineering student at Concordia University. Her involvement is centered around learning, sharing, and contributing to the well-being of both people and the planet.
Outside of her studies, she loves dancing.
DAVID TORO (he/him)
Facilitator: Eco-Anxiety Peer Support Group, Montreal Chapter
David is a federal public servant who completed the M.Env at Concordia University, he specializes in environmental impact studies and Indigenous collaboration. David seeks to foster action at the individual and community level to create networks of care, reconnect with nature, and live more sustainably.
He has a strong passion for gardening, permaculture, spending time in nature, and soccer.
SOPHIE MONKMAN (she/her)
Facilitator: Eco-Anxiety Peer Support Group, Montreal Chapter
Sophie is a queer nature and forest therapy guide devoted to helping people remember their belonging to the living earth and navigate the ecological grief and anxiety that accompanies deep connection. Since 2018, she has been offering nature connection experiences through Soft Earth Forest Therapy.
She is currently pursuing a Masters in Environmental Education and Communication at Royal Roads University.
Beyond guiding and studying, Sophie reads and writes poetry, gardens, cooks, and explores the city’s wild edges—often with her dog, Sully
